Arisan Siasat is an audio drama investigating the potential of “arisan” as a spatial construct which allows for women’s empowerment and liberation.

A group video call was held by the women members of the Gang Ketimun arisan group. The video call was made to anticipate arisan activities that cannot be carried out in normal gatherings due to physical distancing measures taken during the outbreak. Face-to-face video calls were made for the first time, starting with adaptations to devices that not all of them mastered. Apart from that, signal loss and with intermittent sound was experienced several times, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of these women to take care of each other, to make sure each other’s wellbeing.

This audio drama was aired on Smart FM Yogyakarta (August 13th, 2020) and also on Marsinah FM (August 21st, 2020).
