Dapur Wati is an open project both in the process of development, research and presentation. This project focuses on the use and optimization of an ordinary kitchen as a research laboratory in the field of science (biotechnology) which is then applied in various forms. XXLab named this project Dapur Wati because kitchens in Indonesia are often identified as a domestic environment and only for women.
The Dapur Wati Project tries to carry out trials that are usually carried out around a biology laboratory in a home kitchen. By using simple tools and materials found in the kitchen in general, the project shows that anyone can carry out experiments like in a laboratory (biohacking). The aim of this project is to process tofu waste into aesthetically and economically valuable biomaterials. Tofu waste is usually thrown away into rivers, causing pollution and pollution of river water. This project then processes this tofu waste through a biological process so that it becomes a layer of cellulose (which is commonly called nata), then processed to produce a skin-like layer that can be applied to various products.
