Goro Goro Gegerboyo is a work by Gegerboyo, talking about the pandemic situation through the grassroot community point of view. Highlighting changes and how the lower economic class are further marginalised with uncertainties and recklessly enforced measures, this work brings to fore what is considered as ‘alternative’ ways of approaching a new way of life brought about by the community and how these might actually be a more progressive, effective, and contemporary strategy to face the situation. The aim of this project in general is to share and learn together about practicing a new way of life that overcome class division in imagining the future. This work is published through Gegerboyo’s instagram and youtube page.
This work is supported by Dana SAM as part of Karya Normal Baru / New Normal Work 2020 open call, organised by Jakarta Biennale, Biennale Jogja, and Makassar Biennnale. Goro Goro Gegerboyo was selected by Biennale Jogja.
