The recent global pandemic has forced us to move some of our activities from the physical into the virtual space. To Watch and To Be Watched is thus an attempt to simulate the process of observing and of being observed are done in the online spaces that are formed during this time. These spaces and activities held in it – consciously or not – leave traces which then settle and can be read as personal files.
Through a compilation of several CCTV footage videos from various locations in the Greater Jakarta area, the public is invited to follow the trails of a performer who appeared in 20 different videos through monitoring the work’s website.
