Wok The Rock - Residency at the Delfina Foundation

Wok is interested in Delfina Entrecanales’ iconic statement, “I don’t collect art, I collect artists”. After discussion with curator Rose Lejeune from the Delfina Foundation, as well as other artists and art practitioners he met during the residency, Wok started delving into the foundation archives and concluded that Delfina’s statement is an expression and an intangible concept that is realised through intimate social relations with resident artists and support to develop the artist’s career, one of which is the art world network.

Using the format of business cards, Wok’s project, “Collecting Artists” adopts a simple and vernacular way to share fragments of the collection that Delfina has formed with artists in residence since 2007. The card features the artists’ and curators’ contact information, home country, and archival number, as well as information regarding the residency, including the project theme, date, and season. The project attempts to create moments of exchange between collected practitioners and their growing networks, inquiring into the forms of belonging. The production of these name cards began in the first session of Collective As Practice programme and will continue in the next residency programmes at the foundation.
